How to cancel Hulu
Cancel Hulu through your account or billing partner. Follow the steps below, check your bundle and trial terms, or ask Submo to send a dated cancellation request.

Why keep a written cancellation record
A written record, timestamped
You get a dated copy of exactly what was sent and when. If the provider bills you after that date, that copy is what your bank wants to see.
No call, no retention script
You never speak to anyone. A written notice skips the save offers, the hold music and the chat agent whose job is to talk you out of it.
A data-deletion request included
Every notice also asks the provider to delete personal data it no longer needs. The provider decides what it can delete and what it must retain.

Before you cancel Hulu
Five minutes here saves the two things people lose most often when they cancel: a period they'd already paid for, and something they can't get back afterwards.
- 1Save your latest receipt and note the subscription term and next payment date. Your plan’s cancellation confirmation should show when access ends.
- 2Review the full cost, including Live TV, premium channels and any Extra Member add-on. Removing an extra or changing plans may suit you if you still use Hulu.
- 3Check whether you have a promotion, a trial or a bundle. Keep screenshots of the offer and any separate bills so you can compare them with the cancellation result.
Does a Hulu cancellation notice actually do anything?
A written notice records your request and the date it was sent. Submo can send one to Hulu on your behalf, but Hulu controls the subscription and decides when it takes effect. Check your Hulu account for the actual renewal status and expiry date.
You can cancel through Hulu’s account settings or the company that bills you. A Submo letter records your request; Hulu or your billing partner confirms whether cancellation is complete. A notice can add a dated paper trail if you need one; it does not replace checking the provider's status.
Can I get a refund from Hulu?
Hulu’s standard terms do not offer refunds for partly used billing periods, except where the law requires them. Hulu may consider a discretionary refund; partner-billed subscriptions follow that partner’s applicable terms.
For an unexpected charge, keep the receipt and cancellation confirmation, then contact your biller. Including a refund request in your Submo letter does not guarantee repayment.
How to stop Hulu auto-renewal
Hulu subscriptions renew unless cancelled. For direct billing, Hulu’s terms require cancellation before 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on the day before the subscription term ends. Leave time to resolve login or billing issues. A pause can resume billing automatically.
The notice we send asks explicitly for auto-renewal to be disabled and for any stored payment method to be removed, rather than only for the subscription to end. Those are separate things at most providers, and leaving the card on file is how a lapsed account quietly restarts.
What happens to your Hulu data
Cancelling Hulu does not delete your Hulu or MyDisney account. Treat account deletion as a separate request and save your billing records first.
Every notice we send also carries a request to delete personal data that is no longer needed. This is not a guarantee of erasure: Hulu may retain information for purposes such as billing records, fraud prevention, or another legal obligation.

Compare the charge with the pause’s restart date. Billing may have resumed automatically; if the dates do not match, contact your biller with the pause confirmation and receipt.
“I cancelled but another charge appeared”
Compare the receipt, account, payment date and cancellation confirmation. Ask the named biller to identify the charge rather than assuming it is the same cancelled plan.
“I'm billed by Disney+, not Hulu”
Use Disney+ subscription management for a Disney+-billed bundle. Check your other receipts too, especially for a standalone plan you held before joining the bundle.
What happens after you cancel Hulu

Cheaper than cancelling Hulu
If the reason is the price rather than the service, there is usually a smaller number available before you give it up entirely.
- Compare the ad-supported standalone plan with your current plan, including any promotion and the features you use.
- If you no longer watch live channels, review the standalone streaming plans before your next renewal.
- Review optional premium channels and Extra Member charges. A lower total may only require changing the add-ons you pay for.

Cancel it, step by step
Start with who takes the money. That decides everything else. Not sure which is yours? Check who the charge is from on your card statement or receipt: “APPLE.COM/BILL” means Apple, “GOOGLE *” means Google Play.
Your Hulu account lists Hulu as the company that bills you.
- 1Sign in at hulu.com and open Account from the profile menu.
- 2Under Your Subscription, select Cancel.
- 3If a pause offer appears, choose Continue to Cancel.
- 4Select Cancel Subscription. Check your account’s cancellation status and save the email confirmation.
Apple is listed as your biller, and Hulu appears in your Apple subscriptions. Using an iPhone alone does not mean Apple bills you.
- 1Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad and tap your name at the top.
- 2Tap Subscriptions.
- 3Tap Hulu in the list of active subscriptions.
- 4Tap Cancel Subscription, then confirm.
- 5Check that the entry now reads “Expires” rather than “Renews”. That’s your confirmation.
Google Play bills this subscription. Check your receipt and the Google account used to subscribe.
- 1Open the Google Play Store app and tap your profile icon.
- 2Tap Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
- 3Select Hulu.
- 4Tap Cancel subscription and pick a reason to confirm.
- 5The entry should now show an end date instead of a renewal date.
Roku bills this subscription. Watching Hulu on a Roku device alone does not mean Roku handles payment.
- 1From the Roku home screen, highlight the channel tile, but don’t open it.
- 2Press the ★ (Star) button on the remote to open Options.
- 3Choose Manage subscription, then Cancel subscription.
- 4Confirm. Hulu keeps working until the current period ends.
Disney+, Amazon, HBO Max, a mobile provider or another partner handles your Hulu plan.

Paid access normally continues until that date. Trials, promotions and billing partners can have different terms.
Refunds
No standard partial-period refund. Legal requirements and discretionary refunds are exceptions; contact the company that billed you.
Free trials
Cancel before your trial ends to avoid its first payment. Hulu + Live TV trials end immediately on cancellation; other Hulu trials normally retain access until expiry. Check your offer’s terms.

A paused plan can resume automatically. Check the restart date and complete cancellation if you want renewal stopped.
Review your plan and add-ons
Live TV, premium channels and Extra Member can change your total. Check the account’s itemized charges before deciding whether to cancel the whole plan or remove an extra.
A bundle may not be your only subscription
Cancelling a bundle can leave an earlier standalone subscription active. Check the original biller as well as the bundle account.
