Apple subscription guide

How to cancel subscriptions billed through Apple
Apple puts App Store subscriptions in one account-level list. The exact route depends on whether you are using an iPhone, iPad, or Mac, but the subscription must be canceled from the Apple Account that bought it. These steps follow Apple's current cancellation instructions.
Submo can help you identify recurring charges and find the right instructions. It does not cancel an Apple or third-party subscription for you; you complete the cancellation with Apple or the provider.
Cancel on iPhone or iPad
- 1
Open your Apple Account
Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad, then tap your name at the top of the screen.
- 2
Open Subscriptions
Tap Subscriptions to see active and expired subscriptions billed through this Apple Account.
- 3
Choose the subscription
Select the subscription you want to stop. Check the plan and renewal date before continuing.
- 4
Cancel and confirm
Tap Cancel Subscription, then confirm. If there is no cancel button and an expiration message is shown, it is already canceled.
Cancel on a Mac
- 1
Open the App Store
Open the App Store on your Mac and click your name. Sign in if your name is not shown.
- 2
Open Account Settings
Click Account Settings, then scroll to Subscriptions and choose Manage.
- 3
Select the subscription
Click Edit beside the subscription you want to stop and review the renewal details.
- 4
Cancel and confirm
Choose Cancel Subscription and confirm. An expiration message without a cancel button means the subscription is already canceled.
Can't find the subscription?
Search your email for “receipt from Apple” or “invoice from Apple.” The receipt shows which Apple Account made the purchase. Sign in with that account and check Subscriptions again. If the receipt belongs to a family member, that person must cancel from their own account.
No Apple receipt usually means another company is billing the service directly. Check the merchant name on your bank or card statement, then use the provider's own cancellation route. Apple's billing support hub also links to purchase history, payment methods, refunds, and help with unfamiliar charges.
Trials, refunds, family accounts, and unknown charges
Trials
Apple advises canceling a free or discounted trial at least 24 hours before it ends if you do not want it to renew. Review the on-screen access date before confirming because trial access can end differently from a paid billing period.
Refunds
Canceling prevents a future renewal; it does not automatically refund a charge. Check Apple's refund guidance and submit an eligible request at Report a Problem.
Family and unfamiliar charges
Ask Family Sharing members whether they recognize the purchase and compare it with Apple purchase history. The account that bought a subscription must cancel it. Contact Apple if the charge still cannot be identified.
Apple subscription cancellation FAQ
Why is there no Cancel Subscription button?
If Apple shows an expiration date or a red expiration message instead of a cancel button, the subscription is already canceled. If neither appears, confirm that you signed in with the Apple Account shown on the receipt.
Can the family organizer cancel a family member's subscription?
Not from the organizer's subscription list. The family member whose Apple Account bought the subscription must cancel it from that account, even when the organizer pays for Family Sharing purchases.
Does canceling automatically refund the last charge?
No. Cancellation stops a future renewal; a refund is a separate request and eligibility varies. Review the purchase at reportaproblem.apple.com and choose Request a refund if the transaction qualifies.
Can I keep using an Apple subscription after I cancel?
Usually, a paid subscription remains available until the end of the current billing period. Free or discounted trials can have different access rules, so review the confirmation Apple shows before you finish.
What if I do not recognize an Apple charge?
Check Apple's purchase history and receipts, ask Family Sharing members, and compare the amount with charges at apple.com/bill. If the receipt names another company, contact that provider because Apple is not billing the subscription.
